If you train with any kind of frequency and intensity you are going to get injured. This might just be a small muscle tear that keeps you from doing presses for a week or something more serious but you will get issues from time to time.
With that in mind it’s essential you get the following three items and put them in your gym bag or keep them at home for all your workouts or post-workout massage/prehab work. Please keep in mind that you can now purchase all the items listed directly from me.
1. The grid roller – best on the market by miles and if you do not have one you are crazy. Do not buy a white or blue foam roller as they are in general rubbish over the long run. Its €50 for a grid roller.
2. Lacrosse ball – watch the video on shoulder rehab below and you will understand why a €5 ball is essential.
Get in on your fuzz with a lacrosse ball
3. A stong band - again its covered in the video – xband walks, band pulls, assisted pull ups, shoudler dislocates etc. Get one and use it all the time. Price varies according to band strength but expact to pay €30-€50 for a band that will last a lifetime and not a crappy one that you get from a sports shop that has no resistance and snaps after a few uses.
Here is the video that you need to watch and excuse my scruffy, post-workout look.
If you are not doing all of this or are attending a trainer that is not advocating all of this then you need to start asking questions as this is sooooo basic that when I see my regular clients they do not even need to be told what they have to do the minute they walk in the gym. Remember I can tell so much about you and your training by the first things you do at the start of your workout.
As mentioned I sell all of the products listed now so email or call me you need to by them.
